If you are here it’s because you are curious about fly fishing. It is a great sport that you can enjoy over a lifetime. It has a rich history, but isn’t confined to tradition. In fact there are new break throughs and methods being developed all the time, so much so that it can be overwhelming for anyone who is considering trying the sport out.
The goal of this website is to help you get your questions answered, get your gear, get you in the water, and then to finally get a fish in your net! I promise it is possible, even for you, and it is worth it!
I have been fly fishing for over 27 years. It is one of my favorite things to do, and I have helped many people of all ages get into the sport. It’s not as complicated as many people think, and no you don’t have to take out a second mortgage on your house to get started. So yeah, you can do it, and I’m here to help. If you want to go fly fishing this is where your journey begins.
Let’s start by looking at what you need to get started. Now you may not need everything I have listed on this site, for example, if you plan to fish for smallmouth bass in July while wading a stream, you won’t need waders, but if you plan to fish that same stream in November you will. So think about your situation and consider these recommendations. The main thing is that you get out on the water and start learning how to catch fish!
